Keylee Brown 4.0 S.W.O.T Analysis: Threats Threats (Keylee) When it comes to Monsters Energy there are a few threats they have like competitors, government regulations, people learning about the harm from energy drinks, and people moving to healthier alternatives. Monsters biggest threat to their business it would be one of their competitors, Red Bull. In 2015, Red Bull had a market share of about 43%, while Monster in a close second had 39% of the market, allowing them to have that slight advantage (â€Å"Packing a punch†, 2016). With them each having two of the top four energy drinks sold in the United States the competition is fierce (2017 State of the Industry, 2017). This gives retailers and consumers many different choices if they do not like the prices or do not like the quality of the product. If enough buyers do no t purchase the product, it will force Monster to decrease their prices to a level that both will be willing to pay. For retailers, if the price is not right and it is not expensive for them to change to another product, the buyers have a more power. However, Monster often entices retailers and consumers to buy their energy drinks due to earning low profits, which in return allows them to offer low prices. Backward integration is a big deal when it comes to if buyers have power over their sellers. In this case, it would be near impossible for them to create Monsters product on their own as it is not usually financially possible for individuals and retailers do not have access to everything to go into a Monster drink. Customers want a product that actually works, is of a good quality and is not too expensive to purchase. The internet has helped in this aspect of giving buyers more of a power. Retailers and consumers can research the products before making their decision to buy.
